Aims of Training

Aims

To provide course participants with the necessary theoretical knowledge, which when combined with appropriate practical experience, can serve as a foundation for a career as a Supervisor in either a service or an academic setting.

For a clinically competent professionals to function effectively in general working and thinking at the level of a Supervisor, as guide for learning and development processes, educator, expert in terms of content, organiser, innovator/researcher, supporting a higher ethical standard and degrees of competency in the Counselling industry.

To train prospective Supervisors based on globally benchmarked curriculum with concepts gleaned from the fusion of the intellectual best practice.

To equip Supervisors with the competencies requisite for dealing with the 21st century issues of Counselling Supervision.

To provide certified training of a high standard, in line with the standards of registered accredited allied Health bodies.

Objectives

As a participant you learn:

  • About the capacity of Supervision.
  • How to acquire knowledge and techniques according to the various Supervision models in order to be effective in the Supervision process.
  • To understand systems in a Supervision process and a way to use the Supervision process in order to maintain a system of integrity with Counsellors.
  • To develop confidence and a better understanding of how to deal with Supervision situations creatively and with clarity.
  • To develop intervention and collaboration skills.
  • To raise awareness for change and learning processes in Supervisors, Counsellors and organisational structures.
